When It Rains It Pours
Everything Breaks at Once
Everything seems to need to be worked on at once and decides to all break at once. That’s how the saying goes right? In the last few weeks, I’ve had to deal with a toilet issue, washing machine issue where Samsung sent me the wrong part, car needing some new tires, updates (and additions) to my security system after an attempted break-in, grass wars, and the latest is a torn exhaust duct return to my dryer (can’t use my dryer in the meantime).
Adulting can be exhausting and hard; this is the stuff they don’t teach us in school. Maintaining a home can be a lot of work, BUT it can be easier when we put organization and systems in place. For instance, I’m now learning that my duct work from my dryer needs to be cleaned regularly (every 1-2 years and I’ve lived here for 4 years) to keep my dryer working properly and efficiently, and most important PREVENTING A FIRE. Cleaning the lint screen after every drying cycle isn’t enough. Who knew. Not me. So this is a friendly reminder for all to get those dryer ducts cleaned to ensure clothes dry faster and safer homes. Personally, I’ll be adding this to my maintenance list and putting a reminder in my phone to get this done every 1-2 years.
Naturally, I didn’t plan for all these annoying home maintenance expenses this month to take away from all the fun things I’d rather be doing to my house. I have dreams of doing some painting to add some more color into the house and refresh things a bit, changing the door to my bathroom from a sliding barn door which I hate, changing door hardware, changing kitchen hardware, etc. So now, those will be chipped away starting next month! And in the meantime I’ll continue dreaming of all the fun things I could do with my house and all the fun pieces I could acquire.
