I often obsess over things I want to change in my house. This week, I’m very unhappy with the sliding barn doors from my bedroom to my bathroom. They are not my style (I don’t like trends), they often get stuck, they don’t seal, and they really offer no privacy. I really want to figure out an alternative as they need to go at some point. Maybe I can wall in part of the opening (it’s huge) and do small french doors as there is very little clearance for a door to open out (and I don’t want to lose space going in). Something like this that is the size of a standard door.
Everyone has stuff they want to do to their house; Here is a list of things I would love to do in the near future. I have bigger dreams for things I want to do on a larger scale, but not for several years (that’s for a different newsletter).
Put curtains either side of the french doors to add warmth and privacy from neighbors
Repaint the kitchen in a different color (right now I’m into cream, light green/blue, pink/brown)
Change kitchen hardware (something more classic or retro)
Create more kitchen solutions (rod for hanging pots or adding a shelf above range for spices, oils, etc.)
Change sink and wallpaper in powder room (right now I’m really into this wallpaper and doing a fun semigloss trim)
Redo the front steps (they’re currently painted and often get spotty) in bluestone or another stone
But of course, the non-fun house stuff has reared its ugly head. This is your REMINDER to schedule the below for Spring.
Irrigation start up (can shop around contracts and figure out what works for you)
Weed control, fertilizing, etc. (I’ve hired a company for this)
Renew contract for mosquito, tick, and flea spraying (I have a pup so this is very important to me and bugs are obsessed with me)
Soft wash of house, back deck, and walk ways (helps keep exterior clean from spider webs, paint looking nice, and maintaining life of deck)
Window cleaning (I do myself but some people don’t like doing it or their windows aren’t easy like mine)
Gutter clean and repair
