I’m currently getting through post trip depression aka summer time sadness (now I know what Lana was singing about). I miss being in Europe and frolicking around with no responsibilities. Not to mention all the beautiful pastries, walkability, and laughs with new friends. I go through this every summer, after a trip, and after so many friends are in and out of town. Summer around here can get chaotic. People are constantly shuffling from their beach houses, river houses, in-laws places, and vacations, which makes it hard to meet up and catch up! And if I’m being honest, I too dream of a river house or a beach house to retreat to for a change of scenery. But mostly, I dream of decorating it! So this summer, I will continue my daydreaming and decorate a fun space in my head for future Meg, because who knows what the future holds.
And if anyone needs help talking through design ideas or reimagining spaces, please reach out! I’m currently in the midst of helping a dear friend with a bathroom and a kitchen, and we have had so much fun! She has used me as a sounding board for her ideas, vision, and keeping her in check to avoid (sometimes costly) mistakes and keep things functional and practical. So many design choices can look really cool, but are completely impractical for use, life stage, and future needs; If there’s one thing I am, it’s opinionated and decisive about what works and doesn’t work AND what I like. And the reality is, most people don’t have massive budgets for house stuff and really need to get the most out of their space they can and the most bang for their buck.
P.S. I can’t believe it’s already mid-June. It feels like the summer just started and it’s been going on forever at the same time. The 4th is mere weeks away!
