I’ve been recovering from a procedure and it has left me tired and uninspired. I’m not dreaming of burning down my house and starting from scratch with Jeff Bezos’ wallet like I often do; instead, I’m dreaming of my bed. Although I wish my bed was more dressed up and “finished,” I don’t care right now because it its comfy, cozy, and has everything I need. And sometimes, that’s enough!
I’ve been listening to a lot of podcasts and I keep running into a recurring theme, “toxic productivity”. Our culture is built on being busy and productive 24/7, otherwise we’re labeled as “lazy” or “unambitious” or “unsuccessful.” We hear about CEO’s who wake up at 4 am to start their day and devour information about people’s obsessive morning routines hoping it will unlock something in us or give us a long awaited answer to all our problems. In reality, we are often burnt out and pushing ourselves past our limit. What if all this productivity wasn’t actually making us more productive and producing the results we want? What if there was an easier, more balanced way?
Food for thought. Especially as we dive into the holiday season which can be hectic, nonstop, and very taxing on our energy levels. One thing that can help ease the stress and mental load of the holidays is to get on top of shopping!
