A few weeks ago, I decided to go through my home inspection report from 2020 to see what minor things still needed to be dealt with. Somehow I missed that my galvanized waste lines were at the end of their life (my house was built in 1941 so this tracks), which is a BIGGIE. To avoid future flooding and major problems, walls are going to need to be opened from my basement up to my 2nd floor to replace the vertical waste lines. If I had paid more attention to this previously, I would’ve dealt with this when renovating my guest bathroom since walls were already opened on the 2nd floor. You live and you learn with homeownership, right?
One solution might be that I can just put in access doors where the walls are opened up behind the fridge and in an upstairs closet, so I don’t have to re-drywall and paint walls. It’s not glamorous, but it has to be dealt with. Sometimes house stuff isn’t fun and it’s annoying. But that’s why we dream of future interiors and changes to our decor, right?

Really enjoyed this interview with Marissa Cox on living abroad
“I want to worry less and be astonished more. About pickled eggs, about finding a gym class I love, about having a body that can move, about the small little shelf by my front door designed just for my keys, sunglasses and other bits. I’ve always wanted a little shelf just like that.” -Madeleine Dore
