I Don't Believe in Resolutions
And Favorite Finds from 2024
I’m not a big resolution girl. I (like most of us) often set lofty goals and then berate myself for not achieving my lifelong goals (that take time) in a year, which feels extremely unproductive and paralyzing. Instead, I prefer to constantly set small goals throughout the year and work towards them. This really gives me a boost! And I like to remind myself that life is unpredictable, so it’s important to be flexible, aware, kind to myself, curious, and honest; Rigidity isn’t the way for me. However, the end of a year is a good time to take inventory of what worked and what didn’t work. Are there goals I need to adjust? Things I want to leave behind? Ways I want to live my life differently? How do I want to feel this year?
One of my goals is to be mindful about what I’m buying; I want to buy things I really love and will use a long time. Immediate gratification is not the goal; a lifetime of collecting things I truly love and can enjoy for a long time is the ultimate goal. Additionally, it doesn’t hurt that it’s better for the environment and my wallet in the long run. In the the spirit of this ongoing goal, I wanted to share my favorite home and fashion finds of 2024 that I’ve loved and gotten great use out of!
House:
Twinkle Lights for Christmas (these bring me so much joy!)
Shelves for laundry room (I waited months for these to go on sale and can’t wait to get them up!)
Plants (boxwoods in planters are easy to maintain and accent plants can be changed out seasonally)
Coffee Machine (I use this every day and it makes me so happy. I’ve never had a coffee machine before)
Lights in closet with gold bulbs (these bulbs made the lights less aggressive and bright to the eye)
Levoit air filter (clean air is super important to me)
Getting rid of teflon pans and getting stainless steel or ceramic (wherever I can eliminate toxins, I want to)
New trees in backyard (my neighbors took down 9 trees and now my house looks like a fishbowl, so this was necessary for sanity and I can’t wait to see how they grow over the years)
Outdoor solar lighting (hard to recoup landscaping lighting on a house so this has been a great alternative, if you’re in your forever home go for it)
Repainting toilet room in a soothing blue (My house is very open so it’s mostly painted white. I love color and wanted to add a pop I could enjoy every day.)
Coop Pillow (great for a side sleeper like myself)
Happy Light (this is great for seasonal depressive disorder and your circadian rhythm in the winter. start your day with this on while you drink coffee. don’t look directly at it, follow instructions)
Fashion:
Frame Jeans (the most comfortable jeans)
Rag and Bone Pants (super comfortable and flattering)
Banana Republic Sweater (cozy and I love the color)
Jenni Kayne V-Neck Sweater (one of my favorite places for cashmere)
Falke Tanks (great staple)
Underwire workout bra (so comfortable and great if you have big boobies)
Vans (my favorite, casual tennis shoes)
Amazon Leggings (they feel just like Lululemon align leggings)
Bose Headphones (don’t hurt or fall out of ears)
