Cordless Lighting and Black Tie for Less
Happy Monday! To help soften the blow, today’s newsletter is going to focus on requests to “Dear Style Snacks.” First up, I got a request for more cordless light options. There are so many great ones out there at different price points, different styles, and for different uses.
When either building a space from scratch or working with what you have, the positioning of electrical outlets can be really tricky. If you’re building from scratch, you have to layout your furniture and plan outlets accordingly- but what if you want to move things around in the future and the outlets no longer make sense? And if you’re working with what you have, you might find yourself cursing previous owners for the weird positioning of outlets (I have a few that make no sense in my house). Some of my favorite outlet work is when there are outlet compartments built into the hardwood floor. This makes for easy, discrete access for table lamps and floor lamps. Nothing is more annoying than a cord running across the room because of weird outlet placement.
Redoing electrical and moving outlets is not always the most practical, but I have a solution- cordless lights. And my have they gotten chic in the last few years! They give that cord free look that is clean and organized, but also has great functionality. Not only are they great for rentals and outdoor spaces, but also a chic way to endure a power outage (which I have a few times a year). If I can get multiple uses out of an item, then I am a happy girl.

Dream away and enjoy a few aspirational black tie looks…
1. Loewe 2. Rosie Assoulin 3. Max Mara 4. Alexander McQueen 5. Dolce & Gabbana
Finding a black tie look that isn’t super expensive and won’t be seen on multiple guests is hard feat these days. The older I get, the less I want to buy an expensive dress I will only wear once. Now, I want quality, timeless pieces that I can get multiple wears out of it. In some instances, that has required me to make a big investment (that almost always pays off by the way) in a piece. Sometimes I get really lucky and exercise extreme patience until something goes on sale that I know I can wear in the future. But mostly, I have mastered the skill of daily window shopping on multiple websites so I know what is out there, what styles are big this year, and where I can find quality pieces for less.
Below are some of my current favorite black tie looks for less I have come across in recent weeks. All of these dresses are under $525 and would make a beautiful addition to any closet…
1. Tripoli Dress ($348) 2. Rosalynn Dress ($378) 3. Maria Gown ($325) 4. Detachable Cape Maxi Dress ($368) 5. Maci Fringe Dress ($398) 6. Edirlydirl Maxi Dress ($525)
