Christmas Is Over
And I've Lost My Mind
You’re going to think I’m nuts but now is a good time to buy holiday decorations at a discount! If you want a nice faux tree, there are great sales for those. If you need fun things for your table, Mrs. Alice is having a winter sale. I have this faux magnolia wreath and I love it; it looks real and fabulous! This tree topper is so fun. Why do I want this funky peacock for table or mantle decor? So far, I grabbed these mixed berry picks for next year. I’ll probably end up getting a cavalier king charles ornament, because I collect them in honor of my dog, Punky.
I’ve slowly been putting away all my Christmas decorations, which is a little depressing, so I’m leaving my living room decorated until further notice. I’ve also been hard at work doing things around the house I’ve been putting off:
snaking drains that aren’t draining as well (order supplies on Amazon)
making a list of things that need repairing and doing in the house (my washing machine rubber seal needs replacing as there is some gunk I can’t get off it and I’m scared of mold, replace outside seals on doors that are crumbling, hang new shelves in laundry room, get new art framed)
Start to get rid of non-stick pans (they’re toxic and can leach chemicals into your food when cooking) and switch to all stainless steel
Order my all natural mosquito, flea, and tick prevention yard plan for 2025
Look into weed control plans that aren’t as toxic (Punky sometimes eats grass and often eats dirt/mulch)
Check out holiday decor sales to prepare for next year (I have things I want to do differently and adjustments I want to make; I learn something new every year about what I like and don’t like, and a collection takes time)
Research boxwood hedges that can go into planters to line my back deck for privacy from the neighbors
Future Items (that are on my mind)
Buy hedge clippers to shape boxwoods in the spring and update accent plants in year round boxwood planters
Buy new hose attachment for watering plants (mine has gone bad)
Spring cleaning (clean and magic erase baseboards, deep clean clothes washer, deep clean oven, clean out fridge and pantry)
Clean out closet and note holes in wardrobe
Reupholster living room chairs
Repaint kitchen and change the hardware
Repainting inside the house (areas smudged, wear/tear, etc)
Dream Items
Update downstairs powder room (change sink and faucets, wallpaper/paint)
Renovate unfinished basement (this would require waterproofing, etc)
Update electrical and smooth walls in guest rooms (original part of the house)
Change floor tile and shower tile in my bathroom (while doing so add in cork underneath new tile so can’t hear footsteps from downstairs) —dream would be to reconfigure bathroom down the road to include a tub but that might require a renovation which I’d want to then bump off my room some more over my deck and either add more of a mudroom/expand or reconfigure kitchen/dining space, and do a covered deck area
Plunge pool in the backyard (would have grading issues to solve, etc)
Two story garage in back parking area
