Last Week on Style Snacks, I got a question that I’m dying to answer…
Dear Style Snacks, I am dying to know, if money were absolutely no object what would your decor picks be? Maybe for a bedroom, living room and kitchen? Would be so fun to look at. XO
I think about this often. I have several iterations of rooms and houses in my head. There is a scenario where it’s just me and no kids, there is a scenario where it is me and a family, and there is a scenario where there is a beach house. All of these scenarios have different design aesthetics and choices. Let’s start with my dream bedroom, which is not really kid dependent.
My dream bedroom elements are 1. soothing and calm, but warm 2. pops of pattern or warm colors 3. canopy bed 4. simple but delicious rug 5. and a mix of classic with modern touches (I like mixing all throughout my house).
Below are my favorite bedrooms of all time and I’m going to explain which elements I like in each picture. I would pair a lot of elements from different pictures together and make it my own!
1. David Netto - Though I love the Rush Rug I would only put it in a master bedroom in a beach house unless I layered a fluffy sheepskin over it. I love the iron canopy bed and headboard fabric, the window treatments, paint color of the room, nightstands, modern elements like the stool at the end of the bed, and flowers in the room (nothing better than fresh flowers).
2. Mark Sikes- I love the warmth of the room, the rug, canopy bed with the swing arm lamps, and bench at the end of the bed. I would choose a different fabric for the canopy and do a more modern bench.
3. CeCe Barfield Thompson- I love the warmth and simplicity of this room. The only thing I would change is a non-tufted bench (not a big tuft girl) at the end of the bed and maybe a different accent to the chair.
4. Veere Grenney- I adore this bedroom. The blue velvet fabric is delicious. The only thing I’d change is making the bed bigger, so it’s a queen or king size for me in a master bedroom. I love Veere’s mix of classic and modern so much.
5. Mark Sikes- I love this bedroom. It’s soothing, but also fun. The only thing I think I might change is instead of doing the patterned wallpaper, I might put that pattern on the headboard and accent pillow on the bed and paint the bedroom or do a grasscloth wallpaper. Sometimes pattern on wallpaper and drapes in a master bedroom can be too busy for the eye for me, as I want the space to be soothing and calming.
6. Veere Grenney- The only thing I would change is making this a canopy bed. Veere does some of the most stunning canopy beds. The headboard and bedskirt fabric are delicious.
7. Mark Sikes- Such a stunning room. I love blues and find them so soothing. The only thing I might change is doing something different with the chairs at the end of the bed. Maybe velvet chair with some fun piping or even some sort of cream rush chair or spindle chair with pillow accents.
8. CeCe Barfield Thompson- I might add some wicker in a light fixture or to the bench at the end of the bed. Other than that, love.
9. Sascal Studio- I loveeeeee the headboard fabric so much. Only thing I would change is a more muted nightstand, maybe a modern white oak something.
10. Tamsin Johnson- Simple, modern, and luxe. I would match the headboard and window treatments in the same shade of blue or do a more muted headboard with a blue piping to match the drapes.
11. Ralphael Le Berre and Thomas Vevaud- I love a simple, luxurious, modern room. The chair in the corner to die for. The only thing I’d change is a different rug. I’d replace with something like the rugs from #2 or #3.
12. Summer Thornton- I love the wallpaper, the shape of the bed, the throw on the bed, the couch at the end of the bed, and the nightstand. I would change the headboard and foot fabric to a different color or even a pattern fabric. I would either do an oriental rug or pick something warmer (could even layer a sisal with something on top of it).
